There’s two ways to play poker. The cash games and the Poker tournaments. This article deals with the different types of Poker tournaments. Tournaments are very easy to play. The process of a tournament is always the same, although there’s a variety of different tournament formats.
Before the tournament starts, players register and pay the tournament fee. When the tournament starts, each player receives the same number of chips. If a player is out of chips, they drop out from the tournament. Little by little, less and less players will remain in the tournament until finally a tournament winner will be determined.
To win money though, you don’t have to place first. It’s already sufficient to achieve a certain rank within the paid prize ranks. It depends on the tournament or the number of registered players, respectively. At a bigger event with 300 starters even finishing 40th can be a financial gain. If you finish the tournament 40th, it means in other words that 260 other players must have been previously eliminated from the tournament.
In Texas Holdem tournaments, the blinds or the minimum bets are regularly increased. They start out very small, but as the tournament goes on, they get so high that more and more players can no longer wait for good hands, but have to become active, because they don’t have enough chips compared to the minimum bets.
